Seafolk Coffee in Rockport
Step inside Seafolk and you immediately understand why it’s become a quiet anchor in Rockport’s creative community. Originally opened in 2018 by Jacob Wienges and his former partner Madonna, Seafolk is a thoughtfully designed refuge where locals and visitors alike gather for warmth, conversation, and genuinely good coffee. After a pandemic pause, the café reopened in 2022 with renewed purpose and the same handmade charm that made it beloved from the start.
Much of the space was shaped slowly and intentionally—family-built, piece by piece. The long communal table came from a boys’ camp on Alford Lake, and the first two items ever purchased for the café were a pair of stuffed whales from a roadside yard sale. Today, the shop seats about 48 in the warmer months and offers a cozy place to settle in year-round, whether you’re sipping a Viking (a rich espresso drink made with butter and coconut oil) or enjoying a slow-fermented croissant made with Maine grains.
All of Seafolk’s baked goods are made in-house, from sourdough loaves to seasonal sweets, and their lunch offerings shift with the seasons. Coffee comes from Blind Tiger in Old Town, roasted in small batches with care by Charlie Evans, who shares Seafolk’s commitment to balance and depth in flavor. “We want to be a place where people feel truly nourished,” Jacob says. “Not just by what they’re eating, but by the whole experience of being here.”
That experience is what keeps people coming back. Seafolk is known as a gathering place where ideas cross-pollinate and community thrives. There are no loud signs or flashy promotions—just warmth, quality, and a deep respect for the people who walk through the door.
