Brambles in Belfast

Brambles isn’t the kind of place people wander into by chance. Located just off Main Street in Belfast, this long-running home and garden store has been part of the Midcoast retail landscape for more than 30 years. Today, it’s a welcoming space filled with greenery, linens, French soaps, planters, candles, and garden items like obelisks and olive trees.

Owner Lisa duHamel started Brambles after managing a gift shop in Nobleboro. When the owners of that business decided to shift focus, she took over the space and began building something of her own. Over the years, the shop has moved from Damariscotta to Belfast, growing and evolving each time. Lisa has never followed trends or bought based on what’s popular. Instead, she relies on instinct and experience to decide what belongs in the store. "We’re like your garden," she says. "We change all year long."

Brambles carries a mix of fair-trade items, local products, and imported goods. Customers often comment on how good it smells inside, how calming it feels, and how easy it is to stay longer than they intended. Lisa says, "I can’t count the times someone has walked in, taken a deep breath, and said, 'I didn’t know how much I needed this today.’”

FAMOUS FOR:
The fine textiles, European soaps, robust plant offerings. (We love buying olive trees and lavender from Brambles!)
