Tomi Sushi And Noodle Bar in Rockport

Tomi Sushi & Noodle Bar in Rockport has been quietly serving some of the area’s most consistent and beloved sushi since 2017. Originally run by a relative, the restaurant was taken over by Vee and Ann Aramthip after they relocated from Boston, bringing decades of experience and a deep family connection to the business.

Their son Marvin, who helps run the restaurant, says the transition back to more dine-in service has been gradual. “We still do a lot of takeout, but we’re encouraging more people to come in and sit down. We’ve got a great space for it,” he explains. The dining room seats around 30, and there’s seasonal outdoor space for those who prefer to eat outside.

The menu blends Thai and Japanese offerings, with standout items like sashimi lunch platters, curry noodle soups, and tonkatsu curry—a dish Marvin says is hard to find elsewhere in Maine. Sushi remains the backbone of the restaurant’s popularity, thanks to fresh fish, precise technique, and long-honed expertise. “My dad’s been doing sushi for almost 20 years,” Marvin says. “It’s what we’re best known for.”

Seafood is sourced as locally as possible, often from Midcoast fishermen and small distributors. While the family is still working toward a full cocktail program, they’ve recently expanded their sake list with help from a local wine expert and plan to grow their bar offerings over time.

Above all, Marvin says, the team at Tomi hopes customers feel welcome, whether they’re dining in or picking up a quick lunch. “We’re a family business,” he says. “We just want people to enjoy good food and feel comfortable here.”
